80’ wooden tender built by the US Army in 1944 in Seattle Washington. These vessels were originally constructed of old growth Douglas fir. These timbers are in some places 12” x 12” and 20’ long.Their original intent was to bring supplies and soldiers to the Aleutian Islands. Once at their post, the vessels were disassembled and their outpost was built with the lumber in the vessel.
