M/V SAAGA – Work & Oil Recovery Vessel for Sale
M/V Saaga is a former Finnish Maritime Administration vessel of the OILI-class, originally designed for medium-duty fairway maintenance operations. She was built in 1982 for the Finnish government and has served for decades along the Finnish coastline in demanding maritime service.
In the summer of 2023, the vessel was acquired by Saariston Meritie Oy and renamed Saaga.
Today, Saaga operates as a cargo and work vessel in domestic traffic, holding a valid Traficom Domestic Trading Area III licence, permitting operations in Finnish territorial waters and open sea conditions within the specified limits.
Saaga is fully equipped for oil spill response, featuring a built-in oil recovery system with a total recovery capacity of 76 m³. She is fitted with oil recovery booms and belt skimmers, making her well suited for environmental protection duties.
The vessel offers excellent working capabilities with a 44 tonne-meter deck crane in good condition and approximately 75 m² of free deck space, enabling a wide range of operations. Below the work deck, there is a cargo hold including workshop facilities and equipment storage. Cargo handling over the bow ramp is also possible.
For safety and emergency response, Saaga is equipped with a FiFi monitor, which can also be used as a foam cannon.
Thanks to her pod propulsion system, combined with a bow thruster, Saaga is highly manoeuvrable, making her particularly suitable for port operations, ship-to-ship operations, and confined waters.
Accommodation consists of crew quarters for two persons, an office, and an additional bunk in the wheelhouse for one extra crew member. Considering her age, the vessel is very well maintained and well equipped.
The vessel was built according to Lloyd’s Register, with the following class notation:
? 100A1 Oil Recovery Ship, Extended Protected Waters Service, LMC
